BOiNK SFX Synth

Turn any sound into a retro sound-chip sound effect.

Drop in a voice clip, a beep, a bang — anything — and BOiNK resynthesizes it the way a PC speaker, AdLib card, NES, C64 or Game Boy would have played it. Hear the copy next to the original, compare their spectrograms, then export it as WAV, MP3, FLAC or AAC.

Free. Installable from your browser as an app. Your audio is processed on your device and never uploaded.

Not a bit-crusher. A patch, played by a chip.

Lo-fi filters just wreck audio. BOiNK analyses the sound once, boils it down to a small patch, and lets each emulated chip play that patch within its own hardware limits.

Analyse

One patch, any chip

  • Breaks the original into tones and noise bands
  • Auto model picks partials or harmonic pitch + color per sound
  • Typical result: a patch several times smaller than the source audio
  • Music mode for longer, melodic material

Play

Hardware limits are the point

  • Square-wave channels, FM operators, SID filters, wavetables — each device sounds like itself
  • Spectrogram of original vs copy, with a match score
  • One-tap A/B: Original, Copy, or A/B all
  • Switch the device and re-run to compare chips side by side

How it works

Three steps from clip to chip.

  1. 1

Pick a device and your sounds

Choose a sound chip, then load a demo file set or add your own files from your device.

  2. 2

    Synthesize

Watch each sound go from before to after as BOiNK builds the patch. Cancel any time.

  3. 3

    Compare, then save

Play the original against the copy, check the spectrograms, and save each result in the format you need.

What you get

Chip-accurate sound

Sixteen devices, each limited like the real hardware — channel counts, waveforms, noise and FM operators included.

See what changed

Original and copy spectrograms side by side, plus a match score and a size comparison for the whole batch.

A/B everything

Play the original, play the copy, or run A/B all through the full list to audition a chip fast.

Deep export

WAV (PCM, IMA/MS ADPCM, A-law, µ-law, GSM 6.10), FLAC, MP3 (LAME) and AAC / M4A, with mono or stereo and 8–48 kHz sample rates.
